Sophos XG, however, shows the installation as successful, but then won’t boot. What you have reported suggests the system isn’t correctly seeing your CD drive, perhaps because some aspect of it is as yet unrecognised. Have a cool product idea or improvement? In reply to EmileBelcourt:.
Would you be able to try this using v16? XG is non-starter for some reason. I tried to force manually the given path in the error but nothing. In reply to JasonTorrey: Examining the disk with Gparted and other tools again shows the disk as having no partitions at all. Sophos does not guarantee installation on any hardware other than its own. Upon reboot, no boot device. Failing that, you could try installing on another system then moving the hard drive to your Dell.

That drive provides a bootloader, then boots XG from the hard drive like it normally would. Install XG on the hard drive as usual Create the boot drive by the ahhci on the Easy2boot site Config the R BIOS to boot from USB remove all other options as the R gets flakey with USB boot sometimes Boot the USB and modify the options to boot the hard drive by default after a timeout Don’t mess with ahcci editing files as explained on the Easy2boot web site, the site layout and docs are pretty rough.
Some people have installed on another system them moved the hard drive to the intended target system. Or, you could try installing one of the 2.

The way that v16 installs to bare metal was adjusted slightly as there were first time boot issues with v16 on certain hardware platforms. Installed but wont boot on Dell R II Bare Metal Have tried installing a few times and always get “no boot device available” after reboot of install.
What could be the next step to troubleshoot. You can do everything needed in the menus after it’s booted.
